An Afternoon with the Canadian Library Project and Community Book Wrapping (DROP IN)

April 16, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The Canadian Library (TCL) is a grassroots art installation project that acts as a memorial to all Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit (MMIWG2S). The goal is to cover 8,000 books in Indigenous fabric as a testament to the lives lost.

TCL is a living art installation intended to start important conversations and help educate all Canadians on the true history of Canada and the inequalities that still exist today.

Meet Shanta Sundarason, founder of the Canadian Library. Hear the inspiration behind the project and how it is spreading awareness of MMIWG2S across Canada. A local elder will smudge the covered books prior to opening the museum installation.

Location:
Lincoln Museum and Cultural Centre
3800 Main Street, Jordan
