Lincoln Pelham Public Library (LPPL) was recognized for achieving provincial accreditation and received the OLITA Technology Advancing Libraries Award at the 2025 Library Awards Gala held at the Ontario Library Association (OLA) Super Conference in Toronto on January 30, 2025.
Accredition guidelines are developed by the Ontario public library community to help improve the quality of library service across the province. The accreditation process involved a rigorous self-assessment of 190 elements covering library operations, facilities, and policies. Awarded in December 2024, LPPL’s accreditation is valid for a period of five years.
The OLITA Technology Advancing Libraries Award recognizes a project that demonstrates leadership in the application of technology to benefit library users, enhance library operations, and extend partnerships. This was awarded to LPPL’s Technical Services team (Jo-Anne Teeuwsen, Clare Irwin, Jenn Kinsman, and Amy Guilmette) for its work in merging operations and catalogues from two separate libraries into one system for the newly formed union library.
“We’re thankful to our technical services team for their hard work on this merger project, which provides library customers with more fulsome access to collections and services across LPPL,” says Julie Andrews. “We’re also so pleased to achieve accreditation to ensure operations at our four branches meet and exceed provincial benchmarks for excellence in public library service.”
