October is Canadian Library Month and October 20 – 26 is Ontario Public Library Week (OPLW)! All month, libraries and library partners across Canada raise awareness of libraries’ valuable role in the lives of people in Canada. Join us to celebrate the work of LPPL in championing literacy and creating community connections.
Use Your Library!
Library usage reinforces the value and need for responsive and accessible library services. Plus, it saves you money! Borrow materials (up to 99 items per card), read eBooks, audiobooks and digital magazines on Libby, catch up on the news with PressReader, watch movies on Kanopy, and explore the Library of Things. Library cards are free; you can sign up at any LPPL branch or online.
Free Giveaways:
Starting October 21, stop in at your local LPPL branch to receive a free cell phone wallet or LPPL bookmark as a thank you for being an LPPL customer. Giveaways are available on a first come, first serve basis while supplies last.
Bookmark Contest:
Help us celebrate the importance of literacy and libraries by designing a bookmark inspired by your favourite book. There will be one design chosen from each age group:
-ages 11 and under
-12 – 17
-18+
The winning designs will be professionally printed and available at all branches. Pick up a form at any LPPL branch or print it from home. Submit your design at any LPPL branch or by email (programmers@lppl.ca) by October 31.
Share the Library Love:
The library has something for everyone! Help spread the word by encouraging a friend to sign up for a library card. As a thank you, you’ll be entered for a chance to win one of three $25 gift cards to Someday Books or a bag of library swag!
Pick up a flyer with cards at any LPPL branch or print it at home. Share the library love until November 2.
Advocate:
Share what the library means to you! Consider joining the LPPL Board (Lincoln vacancy) or send a message to your local councillor (Lincoln and Pelham) about why you value the library and how it benefits the community.
Donate:
Help LPPL thrive with a monetary donation. You can donate at any LPPL branch or online. Tax receipts are available for gifts of $20 and higher.
