Bookmobile Coming Soon!
Get ready for a whole new way to experience books! Coming your way in early 2025, our “library on wheels” will be hitting the road, bringing the magic of reading to areas in Lincoln and Pelham where there is no library nearby. We are making it easier for those without transportation or with limited mobility to access great reads! The Bookmobile will also visit daycares, schools, senior residences, food banks, and community events to support literacy and lifelong learning. With a handpicked collection of must-reads, there is something for every book lover – whether you are into thrilling fiction, inspiring non-fiction, fun kids’ books, or the coolest graphic novels. Stay tuned for updates and get ready to embark on a literary adventure – wherever you are!
Background
In 2021, the former Lincoln Public Library began using a retired municipal wastewater van to provide outreach services in the community, with a focus on outdoor engagement during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dubbed “Rosie,” the ruby red van has been used for the past three years to provide outreach and engage with residents across Lincoln and Pelham.
With an increased demand in services and a goal to remove barriers to service, the LPPL board and management team decided to add a customized bookmobile as an additional service point.
The bookmobile will also provide an alternate service point during future renovations of library branches in Vineland and Fonthill.
This project is supported by the Town of Lincoln and Town of Pelham, and with generous funding provided by the Niagara Community Foundation David S. Howes Fund ($33,000) and Desjardins Financial Services ($25,000).
